Kraggy's Bored was the name of a Web forum run by, would you believe Kraggy (me), which was set up in early 2003 and put live in June of that year as was then expected to be a short-term emergency backup for another web forum, Spydah's Web (run by 'Spydah' would you again believe!) which had a number of members brought together via other forums focused on the game Wizardy 8 which had been released in November 2001.
The first forums were hosted on one of my own PCs and were created as a personal research tool while I was exploring how web forums and their back-end databases functioned. The name was a bad pun for "Kraggy's Board" which amused me and since it was a private system no-one else would have to suffer it!
Little did I know ...
Sadly Spydah's Web never came back and so Kraggy's became a home for many who had been on Spydah's.
Kraggy's Bored used the domain that this site now uses until November 2017 when the hosting package run by Invision (which had run it since being transferred there in 2009) was allowed to expire.
The reason for this was that Invision unilaterally doubled the monthly fee, blaming the site owner (me) for exceeding the plan's concurrent connection allowance when in fact that was due to bot herds which have become a plague on many sites, and instead of implementing filtering to protect themselves they chose to make ME pay for it!
They did this in December 2016 but since I had pre-paid for 40 months back in 2015 they had my money until November 2017 and so my forums remained.
However, determined they'd not gouge me again Kraggy's was moved to a Proboards web forum where the few remaining Kraggy's members are now to be found, our numbers have dwindled from a high of 91 to only a few but as long as there are folks who recall Kraggy's in its heyday (June 2003 till around 2010) and who want to continue to natter in The Playpen I will keep the Bored around somehow.
